Inter Institutional Greens Quiz 2008

INTER-INSTITUTIONAL GREENS QUIZ, 2008

Greens, the Nature lovers’ forum in the Government Secretariat, proposes to conduct an Inter–Institutional Quiz Competition for the Employees of the State and Central Government/ Semi Government/Public Sector Undertakings including Banks functioning in Thiruvananthapuram district. The application form given below may be downloaded for applying. Rules and other details are followed below the application

RULES AND REGULATIONS

1. It is a team quiz consisting of Two Members in each team and the subjects are Nature, Environment and life science
2. There shall be a written test in the preliminary round. SIX teams will be selected for the final round.
3. Each team shall bring identification documents from the Head of their Institutions to prove their identity in the format attached.
4. Cash prize will be awarded to the first, second and third places
5. The secretariat staff who are interested to take part in the competition, may register their names before the Secretary GREENS, on or before 5.00 pm on 19.04.2008
6. The written preliminary round will be held at 3 PM on 22.04 08 (Tuesday) at Museum Auditorium, Thiruvananthapuram and thereafter the final round will be held in the same venue.
7. The team shall report at the venue half an hour before the preliminary round.
8. The final Quiz will be bilingual i.e. in English and Malayalam
9. In case of dispute, regarding the Quiz Competition, the decision of the Quiz Master and GREENS shall be final.
10.Those participants other than Secretariat Employees who are interested to take part in the competition shall submit the duly filled application on or before 5 p.m. on 19th March, 2008 with Sri P.R. Sreekumar Greens, Manager, VJT Hall, Thiruvananthapuram

Commonwealth Day Celebrations

In association with Commonwealth Parliamentary Association and Kerala State Legislature, Greens arranges an exhibition of nature photos, posters and video films. The exhibition is conducted as part of The Environment Our Future programme at Members' Lounge, Kerala Legislature Complex. All are welcome.

Seminar on Athirappilly Hydro-Electric Project

Greens, along with Thanal, is conducting a seminar on

Athirappilly Hydro Electric Project - Technical and Economic Facts and Realities

on 14th February 2008 at YMCA Hall, Thiruvananthapuram. The winner of 2003 Global Indus Technoveters Award and researcher in River Research Centre at Thrissur, Sri. C.G. Madhusoodanan will deliver the keynote address. Prof. M.K. Prasad, Dr. R.V.G. Menon, Dr. A.S.K. Nair(CESS)and Sri. S.P. Ravi (Chalakkudi River Protection Forum)will also participate in the seminar. Greens Quiz 2007 Carmel Girls' Higher Secondary School wins

The team of Aarathi Anila and Annie John C.S., 10th standard students of Carmel Girls' Higher Secondary School, Vazhuthacaud won first place in the T.K. Rajan Memorial Inter School Quiz Competition 2007 held at Christ Nagar Higher Secondary School at Kowdiar, Thiruvananthapuram.

In the competition of 44 teams from 13 schools, the team of Chandana R.B., Muhsina B.S., the 9th standard students of Cotton Hill Government Girls High School, shared second place with Anju G. Nair and Gopika H., 10th standard students from Carmel Girls' Higher Secondary School, Vazhuthacaud.

Greens Newsletter Editor Sri. C. Suseelkumar led the contest. Sri. Thomas, teacher, Christ Nagar School, gave all facilities, including powerpoint presentation for the quiz competition.

TK Rajan Memorial Greens Quiz 2007

T.K. Rajan Memorial Inter School Greens Quiz 2007 for the 8,9,10th standard students of schools in Thiruvananthapuram city will be held at Christ Nagar School, Vellayambalam at 9.30 am on 10.11.2007. As many teams comprising two members can represent a school. The application form is given below:

Planting of Pathinettampatta at Secretariat

Ixora, an environmental organisation in Lakshadweep, sent a gift to Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan, through Greens. The gift was a coconut sapling of Pathinettampatta - a special variety of coconut palm which bears fruit after its 18th leaf comes out. To read the news click here.
